CARIBBEAN CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE STATISTICS

Are we being realistic here at csasurvivor.net? Can Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) ever stop? We will remain forthright in our fight as we use the Internet to deliver the message that we will not be deterred in our efforts to raise awareness, heighten consciousness, and move professionals to proactive stances as we turn victims into survivors and then warriors.

We give you statistics, stories, solutions, and more. Here we go again, the most recent and glaring statistics published by USAID (United States Agency for International Development) tells us:

  • in Barbados, 264 women, 30% reported sexual abuse
  • in Costa Rica 32% of women and 13% of men reported sexual abuse
  • in Antigua out of 200 women 11% reported sexual exploitation by age 20

We have already defined sexual abuse (check CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE DEFINED). Ok, you understand where we are going with this. So what to do? We recommend you check out these pages (just glance to the right):

We have covered so many critical areas in such short time, to bring you up-to-date on best practices in the field.

We will continue to push this issue, especially to those who can affect change in our communities. We urge you  providers, communites leaders, ordinary folks to promote supportive (not blaming) environments for the victims of sexual abuse. Those who are already doing a fine job of educating the public, please continue.

We want to help providers confront their own attitudes about adolescent sexuality, gender roles and victims of rape, and also help adolescents resist the pressure to engage in unwanted sexual behavior.

Please keep reading csasurvivor.net! Information is POWER!
